Agitation equipment in industrial plants operates under continuous processes, high loads, and strict equipment reliability requirements. The new SEW-EURODRIVE X.e Agitator series is engineered specifically for mixers and agitators in heavy industry. SEW-EURODRIVE engineers utilized extensive field experience alongside advanced 3D modeling to simulate mechanical stress, force distribution, airflow, and oil circulation within the housing at the earliest design stages.

The housing of the X.e series for industrial mixers is engineered to absorb the severe operational stresses generated during mixing processes. Its specialized design ensures even force distribution across the mounting surface, while an enlarged output shaft enables high-torque transmission.

Depending on specific application requirements, various bearing configurations can be integrated into the housing. This allows the gear unit to be tailored precisely to load profiles, duty cycles, and process characteristics.

An innovative motor adapter provides a reliable drive connection. Featuring an integrated fan and optimized airflow direction—routing air from the motor adapter straight to the gear unit hood—it enhances thermal capacity and often eliminates the need for external cooling systems.

Leak Protection and Reliable Lubrication

Hermetic sealing and long-term operational safety were primary focus areas during development. The housing's horizontal joint line is positioned above the maximum oil level, significantly reducing the risk of lubricant leaks through the seam.

The gear unit also features a fail-safe "dry well" design. Combined with a forced lubrication system, it protects the process area from oil contamination and ensures dependable operation. An integrated pump and internal piping continuously feed oil to critical components, including those in the upper housing section. Advanced simulation tools were used to design the lubrication distribution model, which was subsequently validated through rigorous physical testing.

Easy Maintenance and Fast Installation

The gear unit is designed for both operational reliability and effortless maintenance. Optimized drain hole geometry facilitates thorough removal of used oil during service intervals. Additionally, the mounting flange is located below the sealing system, eliminating the need for an extra adapter plate during installation.
