RIVS, JSC HAS PATENTED A TECHNOLOGY FOR PRODUCING GOLD FROM DOUBLE-TENACITY ORES SUBJECTED TO ULTRAFINE GRINDING

Лого РИВС. Рус

The specialists of NPO RIVS JSC have developed an improved method for extracting gold from sulfide raw materials of double tenacity. The patent for the invention was obtained in May of this year.
The gold mining industry is increasingly faced with ores and concentrates, which are characterized by the double persistence of gold associated with pyrite and arsenopyrite, as well as with organic carbon. There are various technological schemes for processing this type of raw materials. One of the relevant solutions is the use of ultrafine grinding and subsequent atmospheric oxidation. The method includes ultrafine grinding in a bead mill, oxidation of the crushed product with oxygen at atmospheric pressure and cyanidation of the oxidized product.

However, this method has a flaw — as a result of ultrafine grinding, the sorption activity of the concentrate increases due to the activation of the surface of the carbonaceous substance. For this reason, the extraction of gold decreases and the loss of gold with tails increases. The technologists of the NGO "RIVS" solved this problem.
"The method consists in creating special conditions in the process of ultrafine grinding and atmospheric oxidation of concentrate sulfides," says Olga Pererechnikova, one of the authors of the invention. — Bead grinding of gold-containing carbon-sulfide raw materials is carried out using a carbon suppressor reagent, namely mercury. Then the crushed material is sent for oxidation with the addition of alkalizing reagents.

By the end of the oxidation process, mercury is sorbed with a carbonaceous substance, as a result of which a significant decrease in the sorption activity of the oxidized product is achieved and, due to this, the extraction of gold during subsequent cyanidation increases.

The developed technology makes it possible to expand the range of concentrates that can be processed using a combination of ultrafine grinding and oxidative leaching operations. The technology is also characterized by low capital costs due to the relative simplicity of technological equipment and low aggressiveness of working environments, which allows the use of cheaper structural materials for its manufacture.
